Jesse Goes to Ball State

Not hard at all to believe Jesse is now at college. It feels as natural as breathing that he takes this next step.

Sure, we miss him here, and him being gone on his birthday is going to be tough, but he is in his element. I just smile every time I think about him up there.

Good Luck Jesse!

Tornados and Wind Hit Hancock County, May 2008

Friday Night, May 30, just at the end of Jesse's graduation party, devastating storms passed through Hancock County. We all evacuated to the basement when the sirens went off. No damage to our house but some fellow St. Michael parishioners were not so lucky. Lots of damage at the Davis' home turned into a hot work day for the Vetters and the Delaney families.

Jesse was talking to their granddaughter, who was excited to have all this company. "Next time we have a tornado," she said, "can you come back over to my house and play?"

Indy 500

Another fun year at the Indy 500 with Tim, Guy, Mike, Chris and the gang. Maybe the last year for the "Alabama Limo" as it may be sold before next year! We'll see if Todd comes through. Best weather we have ever had, and new seats at the top of Turn 2. We can see almost the whole track.

Jesse's Graduation from GCHS

Jesse, Kyle and Shelbey have been through every grade together, from Cissa's to High School graduation. Only fitting that they should be shown in full regailia together! On to college!

LeeOtis Streety Passes

LeeOtis Streety passed away this week. She was my great aunt, and my last connection to Amory Mississippi. I remember such wonderful times in Amory as a kid!

I hope to update the family tree information. As I review it I am missing lots:
Vetters Family Tree

Notes from Mom:
Wanted to send you some photos of the luncheon that was provided by the church in Amory after the funeral today. The group photo is very good -
Uncle Buddy and Aunt Mel's girls - Martha, left, Mary Elizabeth, (green jacket) and Nancy (yellow jacket) - Daphne, Dennis Wayne (LeeOtis son) and Frank, and Eddie (Jewel's brother Jimmys son) and Vicki (Jewels brother, Jimmys daughter). It was great to see them.

I would love to get updates: kvetters@vettersmedical.com

We'll miss you Aunt LeeOtis!

If you want to get a quick glimpse of an 8th grade field trip to Washington DC, watch this quick video of the kids coming out of the National Archives. "Wow, the Declaration of Independence! But how about these great steps!"

Dr. Isaacs

Chris went to see Grandad Sunday, and while visiting he said, "Hey Keek, you know that guy over there, Dr. Isaacs."

Sure enough, that was the dentist she worked for growing up. Her Middle School English teacher, Mrs. Isaacs, called her down to the office one day and asked if she would fill in for Doc's assistant at his office while she was on vacation. While there, she even learned to mix fillings!

So for years after that, Dr. Isaacs' summer help was always filled by a "Cota Kid."

She leaned down to see him, now over 80, right arm amputated and in long term care, and asked if he remembered her.

"You're a Cota Kid!" he said, his old eyes recognizing her.

Her eyes teared as she told us about him at supper tonight. Great to remember, and be remembered!

Run For Your Wife

Chris and her castaways put on the first theater in Greenfield for big people in 10 years last weekend. Over 700 attended, and the show got rave reviews and standing ovations.

It has been written up in the Daily Reporter in some form or fashion almost every day since the run, all positive.

To see pictures of the show go to:
www.crazylake.com and click on CrazyLake Theater.

Why am I in the picture? I'm the producer! It was a way for them to get me to agree to play. Congrats to all who performed and helped!

Jesse Vetters Enters the 2008 Political Fray!

You need to check out the article written about Jesse and his quest to ask a question on the 2007 YouTube Debate. You can see it, and his video, at:

I'm pretty proud of my kid, and love that he is already interested in the process and in changing the world at 18! Agree or not, I love a kid that thinks out of the box!
